The premier, non-profit provider of refurbished computers to BC schools and communities

Corporate Responsibility

Your company or organization can be proud to support Computers for Schools. There are three key benefits to joining our elite list of corporate donors and partners.

Protecting the Environment

Through CFS, your old computers will have their useful life doubled in a classroom or not-for-profit environment. CFS' reuse program extends the life of computers by as much as 100%.

Reusing 10,000 computers is the equivalent of
  • 73,700 barrels of oil saved
  • 3,420,600 gallons of gas saved
  • a reduction of 6,100 cars from the road per year
  • a reduction in CO2 emissions of 30,760 tons
CFS' reuse program extends the life of computers by as much as 100%, thus significantly eliminating e-waste in landfills. To date, CFS has delivered over 1 million computers for reuse by schools and non-profit organizations in Canada.

Helping BC students learn

Increasing our donation supply helps us better facilitate the growing needs of schools and learning organizations. The equipment we distribute is used to upgrade outdated computers in labs, classrooms and libraries, to support special needs learners, for Auto Cad, web design, robotics, internet research, and curriculum support. In not-for-profit settings, it is used by the community to access the internet and increase access for adult learners.

Computers are a large, re-occurring financial commitment – reuse saves money for other priorities.

Providing Quality Work Experience

Each year CFS-BC provides paid work experience to 20-25 youth seeking a career in the IT field. Working with CFS exposes technical interns to every make and model of computer equipment, honing their hardware expertise, developing critical team-building, communication and mentorship skills.

Interns who have worked with CFS have gone to find full time employment with local school boards, TELUS, IBM, Shaw, RCMP, Rent-A-Nerd and many other local companies.

CFS-BC also provides quality work experience placements for ~50 highschool students each year as part of their graduation requirements. Students learn the importance of coming to work, how to be part of a team and to refurbish computer equipment which may be shipped to their school!
